As we write this post, it’s Tuesday evening and the Design & Verification Conference & Exhibition 2014, DVCon, is halfway over. We could be traditional and have a college marching band entertain us and form schematic diagrams on the field as we wait for the show to resume. We could hire some entertainer whose appeal has faded and who’s willing to do half-time shows to try to resurrect his or her career. But instead we’re going to settle for a simple report. Monday evening featured, for the first time, an early look at the exhibition floor. DVCon reported that the show has a record number of exhibitors this year, and in fact they spilled out of the DoubleTree ballroom into the lobby. In a time when so many conferences are shrinking, the news that DVCon is growing is most welcome.
Tuesday and Wednesday are the traditional days for the DVCon exhibits. As we write this, Tuesday was a solid day, a bit less hectic that Monday but the exhibits were spread over three and a half hours rather than only two. There is no doubt that graph-based verification, software-driven verification, test-case automation, and similar topics are on the minds of many verification engineers. Since our products encompass all of these terms and more, we saw a diverse group of engineers stopping by our booth. They spanned the full range of the SoC development process, ranging from high-end system architects all the way to silicon engineers worried about production test vendors. Breker’s family of products is the only industry solution covering this entire range, so we believe that many of our visitors will engage in deeper discussions with us. As promised. we’re showing a live demo with our TrekSoC-Si product generating a test case, downloading it into a commercial SoC (a TI OMAP4430), and running in the actual chip. We’d love to have you stop by on Wednesday to see this demo or just tell us about your SoC verification needs. Finally, if you’re able to attend DVCon on Wednesday, please join us for the panel “Is Software the Missing Piece In Verification?” from 8:30am to 9:45am. We hope to see you there! Tom A.
