DAC is Back! A Preview of the San Francisco Show

May 28th, 2014 by Tom Anderson, VP of Marketing

DAC is back, Jack! The big show returns to San Francisco for two years before heading back to Austin. Last year was a special one for Breker, with our 10th anniversary as a company, the 50th year of DAC, and the first time for the show in Austin, our birthplace. But no location draws more visitors and more buzz than San Francisco. It’s a short train ride from traditional Silicon Valley and arguably part of an extended definition of Silicon Valley that includes a fair chunk of the Bay Area.

This year’s show promises plenty of excitement, and we’d like to fill you in. Of course, we will be there as part of the always lively exhibit floor. Those of you who attended DAC in Austin will surely remember our naval-themed “USS Ice Breker” booth, which we loved so much we’re shipping it to San Francisco. No visit to the DAC exhibits would be complete without stopping by to see Breker in booth 2602 and taking a “cruise” with us. You can request a meeting at a specific time by visiting our DAC signup page.

As we have the past two years, we will feature a theater area where we will offer presentations from Breker technical experts and several of our partners. You can sit and rest your weary feet for a few minutes and learn more about SoC verification in the process. Speaking of partners, you may have noticed some announcements in the last few weeks. As Breker has grown, we have found more opportunities to work with other companies for the benefit of our mutual customers. Expect more announcements to come.

Of course you’ll have the chance to see product demonstrations in our booth, provided by our outstanding applications engineers. We’ll also have some members of our R&D team on hand to see first-hand how their work is perceived by prospective customers. One demonstration will be a reprise of the TrekSoC-Si demo we showed at DVCon earlier this year. Since this shows our multi-threaded test cases running on a production board within a multi-processor TI OMAP family SoC, it’s always popular.

We’re most excited about our brand-new second demo, which shows our TrekSoC GUI integrated with the Synopsys Verdi Advanced Debug environment. Verdi is well known and widely used across the industry, and we thank Synopsys for adding us to their Verdi Interoperability Apps (VIA) Access Program and for providing technical support for the integration. You can launch our TrekBox GUI application from within Verdi and then freely navigate while all windows in TrekBox and Verdi remain synchronized for maximum debug efficiency.

We’re delighted to welcome longtime customer IBM to the DAC program. Wolfgang Roesner will participate in the pavilion panel “The Asymptote of Verification” on Monday, June 2 from 5:15 p.m. until 6 p.m.  He will address the role of graph-based verification in improving verification efficiency and coverage. Other panelists will focus on formal analysis and static verification in design closure. The DAC Pavilion is on the show floor so you only need an exhibit pass to attend.

Please join us at DAC in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Exhibit hours are Monday, June 2, through Wednesday, June 4, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. There are many technical sessions, colocated events, and other activities going on from June 1 through June 5, so you have plenty of reasons to attend. We’ll post an update or two during the show and will let you know how it went after it’s over. In the meantime, we hope to see you there!
