Join us in August For a Webinar Assessing Design and IP Opportunities in Global Automotive Markets

July 28th, 2020 by Bob Smith, Executive Director

Looking into August, set aside Thursday, August 20, from 10-11am PDT for our next webinar that we’re co-hosting with McKinsey & Company.

“The Impact of Future Mobility Disruptions on the Semiconductor Design Ecosystem” will outline design and silicon IP opportunities driven by the rapid growth and disruptions in global automotive markets and supply chains.

McKinsey & Company Partner Andreas Breiter and Associate Partner Armen Mkrtchyan will offer attendees insights into how autonomous and connected vehicles, electric powertrains and shared mobility solutions will shape the semiconductor design value chain. They will address the impact on chip design, verification and IP driven by the need for new domain controllers, smart sensors, AI-enabled compute units and the increasing need for hardware-based cybersecurity solutions. Partnerships in the semiconductor value chain, they predict, will make mobility disruptions a reality as design ecosystem suppliers partner on system architecture, design, development and verification.

Prior to their talk, Bettina Weiss, SEMI’s Chief of Staff and Global Smart Mobility Lead, will introduce

SEMI’s Smart Mobility, an initiative meant to connect and synchronize automotive/mobility and semiconductor/sensor supply chains around issues that matter to both.

I encourage you to attend to learn more about mobility disruptions and opportunities affecting our ecosystem. Come with questions because the format will include time for a question-and-answer session. Registration is free of charge.

Our webinar follows another the day before. Titled, “Smart Mobility: Next Generation Transportation Enabled by Sensorization,” it will be held virtually Wednesday, August 19, from 8-9am PDT and co-hosted by McKinsey & Company and SEMI Smart Mobility.

The same speakers from McKinsey & Company will define several major disruptions that are causing major growth in the use of sensors in the mobility sector. Sensors in vehicles and a smart infrastructure  around them will enable next-generation transportation, they suggest, including autonomous, connected, electric and shared (ACES) vehicles.

Registration for this webinar is free of charge as well.

About the Electronic System Design Alliance

The Electronic System Design (ESD) Alliance, a SEMI Technology Community representing members in the electronic system and semiconductor design ecosystem, is a community that addresses technical, marketing, economic and legislative issues affecting the entire industry. It acts as the central voice to communicate and promote the value of the semiconductor design ecosystem as a vital component of the global electronics industry.
