While Summer vacations are over and the semiconductor industry gears up for the trade show season, inside SEMI’s headquarters is buzzing with activity, as it has all Summer long. We work year-round on the 60 annual international semiconductor equipment and materials events we plan and manage. Many are organized by local chapters or are workshops on relevant to a specific community within SEMI. Not all are applicable to the electronic system design ecosystem. Many are. In fact, a growing number of our events are germane, especially the various SEMICONs located in international regions worldwide. Next week, for example, is the annual SEMICON Taiwan September 18-20 in Taipei City, Taiwan, connecting the microelectronics and semiconductor industry ecosystems. One highlight is the Technology Think Tank Summit that gathers global industry leaders to share opinions and visions of the industry future. Another is the sold-out Smart Data Global Summit Forum sponsored by Cadence and Synopsys. It features talks on Artificial Intelligence and ubiquitous computing in the digitally transformed future from Arm, Cadence, Facebook, Mentor, a Siemens Business, Qualcomm and Synopsys. Additionally, the ESD Alliance will host an industry meeting to outline its development plans and practice sharing. A VIP reception follows. SEMICON Europa, the largest European electronics platform connecting industry Leaders across the entire supply chain, is November 12-15, 2019 in Munich, Germany. The ESD Alliance will host the SMART Design program titled, “Designing Electronic Systems for Future Applications,” Thursday afternoon, November 14, that will include keynotes, talks and a panel. We’ll have more details soon on the program with presenters you will recognize. We move on to Japan for SEMICON Japan December 11-13 in Tokyo. Its SMART Applications Zone connects SMART industries with the semiconductor supply chain to foster collaboration across the electronics ecosystem. The Super Theater will have seven keynote sessions over three days on critical industry topics driving growth and prosperity across the global supply chain. SEMICON Korea will be held February 5-7, 2020 in Seoul with special features including a semiconductor technology symposium, market seminar, supplier search programs and networking events for information exchange and connections. SEMI’s largest event –– with more than 90,000 attendees –– is the yearly SEMICON China held March 18-20, 2020 in Shanghai. The ESD Alliance will be there, hosting the SMART Design program. SEMICON China is in the early planning stages with a call for presentations to come. Of course, U.S. readers will recognize one of our flagship events, the large SEMICON West located each year in San Francisco. It will be held July 21-23, 2020. Planning for SEMICON West is well under way. Some upcoming events in California are worth noting for the Electronic System Design ecosystem. “Fundamentals of Product Marketing 2.0” will be held October 7-9 at the SEMI headquarters in Milpitas, Calif. SEMI partners with The Quest Team on the program for professionals in product marketing, product management, and program management functions. The MEMS & Sensors Executive Congress (MSEC) is the only event where senior executives in the MEMS and sensors supply chain and adjacent industries exchange ideas while connecting with partners, customers and competitors. This year’s theme is “Markets and Technologies Driving Unprecedented Demand for Sensors –– A Bright Future Built on 5G, AI, Blockchain and SMART ‘Everything.’” MSEC will be held October 22-24 in San Diego, Calif. The Industry Strategy Symposium (ISS 2020) kicks off the year, connecting key economists, technologists, and financial analysts for insights about the economy, technologies and business trends. It will be held January 12-15 in Half Moon Bay, Calif. Visit the SEMI Events page for a complete listing. Members can visit connect.semi.org. In case you’re wondering why connect is sprinkled throughout this post, it’s because “Connect, Collaborate and Innovate” is SEMICON’s theme. Our tag line is “Leading the SMART Future.” We hope you’ll join us to connect with your peers and collaborate with us to innovate for the SMART Future. Please contact me at jrogers@semi.org if you have questions or need more information. Meanwhile, the ESD Alliance will exhibit at Arm TechCon (Booth #844) October 8-10 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif.
