Previously, Bob was senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Uniquify, responsible for brand development, positioning, strategy and business development activities. Bob began his career in high tech as an analog design engineer working at Hewlett Packard. Since then, he has spent more than 30 years in various roles in marketing, business development and executive management primarily working with startup and early stage companies. These companies include IKOS Systems, Synopsys, LogicVision, and Magma Design Automation. He was a member of the IPO teams that took Synopsys public in 1992 and Magma public in 2001. Bob received his BSEE from U.C. Davis and his MSEE from Stanford University.

DVCon Arrives in a Few Short Weeks

In the Design and Design Automation Ecosystem community, February often means DVCon U.S., the must-attend conference for design and verification engineers, EDA developers and design managers. It’s a technical forum that offers a great opportunity for the community to discuss difficult verification challenges and solutions.
DVCon will be held again Monday, February 25, through Thursday, February 28, at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, Calif. Attendees who want to see the exhibits should plan on being there for the DVCon Expo and Reception Monday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Otherwise, the exhibit floor will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.
As we have done in the past, the ESD Alliance will be there when the exhibits floor is open. We welcome exhibitors and attendees to our booth (Booth #100 in the foyer) to learn more about our charter, programs, initiatives and events.

We will introduce you to the inaugural ESD Alliance-hosted ES Design West, the only event in North America that links the system and semiconductor design ecosystem to the entire electronic product manufacturing and supply chain. It will be co-located with SEMICON West 2019 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, July 9-11.
As you might expect, we’re enthusiastic about ES Design West because we’re merging design and the bigger electronics supply chain to:
- Connect the electronic system and semiconductor design ecosystem to the worldwide Electronic Product Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- Offer a forward-looking “system-centric” perspective
- Give attendees and exhibitors a link to the electronic product supply chain driven by design
- Provide a strong program focused on the commercial aspects of electronic system design
- Accelerate conversations, information exchange and collaboration to address common issues, challenges and opportunities that takes new electronic products from concept to consumer
- Feature networking and social activities
- Promote the full spectrum of design including IP, EDA, embedded software, design services and design infrastructure
While you may not know much about ES Design West, that will change soon. It has a strong Advisory Council chaired by Julie Rogers, SEMI’s director of Americas marketing, who will be at DVCon. Our council consists of noted industry leaders, many of whom will be at DVCon too. They are developing a comprehensive conference and exhibit experience with presentations and panel discussions to showcase electronic system design, its business achievements, commercial technological accomplishments and role in the broader electronics manufacturing supply chain. Our goal is to enable and accelerate conversations, information exchange and collaboration to address common issues, challenges and opportunities that move new electronic products from concept to consumer.
