The ESD Alliance at ARM TechCon; Reminder on Legal Panel November 1

October 24th, 2016 by Bob Smith, Executive Director

ARM TechConOctober continues to be a busy month. I’m just back from a whirlwind trip to Munich, Germany, for DVCon Europe where I was the keynote speaker at the Wednesday night dinner. Stay tuned for a full report in my next blog post.

Meanwhile, if you’re going to ARM TechCon this week, please stop by the ESD Alliance Booth (#523) where you can learn about our programs and new initiatives and pick up a copy of our quarterly newsletter. The Expo Hall will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, Calif.

The Alliance will be represented in the program as well. My talk, “Semiconductor IP and the Impact of Multi-Die IC Design,” will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Ballroom D. I plan to focus on the emerging trends in the new wave of multi-die IC design and how that is driving strategic changes in the SIP market. I’ll cover the move from transistor integration to functional integration, and SIP’s increasing role that will benefit IP vendors and users.

A reminder: If you haven’t registered for the second in our ongoing series of panels on legal issues affecting small and emerging technology companies, you have time. “Legal Steps to Maximize your Exit Value” will be held Tuesday, November 1, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Cadence’s corporate headquarters in San Jose, Calif. You’ll learn about valuation issues and techniques, and positioning strategies to build and lock-in enterprise value on exit transactions.Legal

The discussion will be moderated by Mark Cameron White, a partner at White Summers Caffee & James LLP and our corporate secretary for more than 20 years. Panelists will explain why legal considerations can help maximize a successful business exit strategy.

Panelists include:

  • Dennis Fernandez, director and head of the IP Practice at White Summers, a noted IP strategy and patent lawyer
  • Tom Maier, partner at Fudderman Dupree and an expert on tax and business law
  • Warren Savage, general manager of IP at Silvaco and former chief executive officer of IPExtreme
  • Neil Shroff, managing director of Orion Capital and a highly regarded M&A advisor

Light snacks and beverages will be served during the networking hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. The panel will run from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. An informal discussion will conclude the evening.

This event, like all ESD Alliance events, is open to all member companies free of charge, though seating is limited. Non-ESD Alliance members are welcome to attend on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on space availability. The cost is $40, payable online or at the door.
