Sneak Preview of this Week’s ARM TechCon in Santa Clara

October 28th, 2013 by Tom Anderson, VP of Marketing

Over the last couple of decades, vendor-specific conferences have complemented and in some markets even supplanted general industry events. Intel, Microsoft, Sun/Oracle, Apple, and many other companies have had huge, successful shows year after year. Perhaps it’s a sign of a certain level of maturity when a company has the resources to hold its own event and the appeal to attract a large crowd.

In the world of EDA (and IP, and embedded systems), ARM is certainly one of the biggest recent success stories. As the company has grown, its small technical events have evolved into a major show now known as ARM TechCon. Breker will be both speaking and exhibiting at this week’s event in Santa Clara, just down the road from Breker’s headquarters in San Jose.

ARM TechCon starts tomorrow, Tuesday, October 29, and runs through Thursday, October 31, ending just in time for local parents to get home and go trick-or-treating with their kids. If you look at the program, you’ll see that all three days are packed with technical talks covering an enormous range of topics. Want to learn about multicore, performance analysis, memory subsystems, power management, embedded programming, security, and more? ARM TechCon is the place.

Breker CEO and co-founder Adnan Hamid will present “Scheduling Multithreaded Multiprocessor Test Cases in an ARM-Based SoC” on Thursday at 2:30pm in Grand Ballroom A. As you know, Breker’s TrekSoC product aggressively schedules self-verifying test cases across multiple processors and multiple threads per processor in order to stress every aspect of a system-on-chip (SoC) design before it’s fabricated.

Adnan’s talk will offer insight into the how the scheduling works and why the automatically generated test cases are so effective at verifying the SoC. With the recent announcement of TrekSoC-Si, these test cases can also run on hardware platforms, including the actual chips when they ship from the foundry. Adnan will also discuss a real-world example of running Breker-generated test cases on a board containing a multi-core ARM processor.

This setup will be on display in the Breker booth, number 714, in the ARM TechCon Expo. More than 80 vendors will participate in this exhibition, which runs  Wednesday from 10am to 7:15pm and Thursday from 10am to 4pm. If you’re able to attend the show, and you really should, please drop by the Breker booth to say hello and learn more about SoC verification.
