Undo Software signs MDS Technology as South Korean distribution partner

New generation of debugging solutions is brought to global leaders of the embedded industry

Cambridge, UK, and Seoul, South Korea, 15 October 2015, Undo Software ( http://undo-software.com/), the world’s leading commercial supplier of next generation debugging solutions for Linux and Android developers, today announced that it has signed MDS Technology to distribute its software tools in South Korea. South Korea is a world leader in mobile and consumer electronics and is home to some of the biggest names in the industry.

The partnership reflects the growing need for advanced debugging solutions for embedded and enterprise applications development. Devices are becoming increasingly complex as software becomes more advanced, and the potential for making errors in code is greater, especially as companies are under more pressure to meet tight development schedules. Traditional debugging methods are not keeping pace with these changes and bugs are often making it into production, causing headaches for vendors who lose time and money attempting to fix customer-reported errors.

Undo’s family of high performance debugging tools will help embedded systems providers to address these challenges directly. Used by over 1,000 developers globally, its products dramatically improve debugging efforts by reducing the time it takes to bring a product to market and giving developers the means to solve customer-reported errors offline, without needing to visit the customer site. Undo’s newest product, Live Recorder, won Business Weekly’s ‘Disruptive Technology Award’ for its unique ability to allow Linux and Android programs to make a detailed recording of themselves. The resulting recording file, which includes everything a program has done, saved in a highly compressed and efficient way, can be sent to the developer(s) at a remote location who can completely reconstruct the program’s execution, allowing them to debug an exact copy of the bug as it occurred in production and test environments. UndoDB is a reversible debugging tool that enables developers to step or run their programs backwards as well as forwards in time so that they can rapidly find and fix bugs.

Undo chose to partner with MDS because of its longevity in, and deep knowledge of, embedded markets. It has more than 1,300 customers including Samsung, LG, Hyundai and SK Telecom, and provides effective total solutions for a range of embedded industries spanning automotive, telecoms, digital devices and aerospace.

Undo’s partnership with MDS allows it to target a software market which had total revenues of $5.2bn in 2014. According to analyst group, Marketline, Korea’s software market has experienced a  compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9% since 2010 and performance is forecast to accelerate, with an anticipated CAGR of 7.3% for the five-year period 2014-2019. By the end of 2019, it is expected to value $7.4bn.

“South Korea is a major hub for mobile and embedded systems providers and we are delighted to partner with MDS Technology to meet the needs of these markets”, said Greg Law, CEO and co-founder of Undo Software. “Debugging is one of the greatest challenges faced by this industry today and it will be an even greater challenge in the future as code becomes more complex and competition increases. Huge potential therefore exists for Undo to add value in South Korea and MDS’s ability to provide cutting-edge embedded solutions makes it the right partner for us. I am looking forward to working with them as we continue our expansion eastwards.”

In June 2015, Undo appointed FTD Infocom to distribute its debugging solutions in India, the world’s fastest growing embedded and software development market. Undo is attracted by the opportunities that exist in the east for technological innovation and already has a well-established presence in the United States and Europe.

“We have more than 20 years’ experience in delivering embedded solutions across Korea and are always on the lookout for vendors who can help us achieve our goal of becoming a global embedded solution company”, said Sangheon Lee, CEO of MDS Technology. “We are very excited to bring Undo’s solutions to the embedded industry. More and more companies are shifting to Linux and Android and there is a real need for high performance debugging tools if we are to help our customers become - and remain - market leaders. We believe that our partnership with Undo will help to make this happen”.
