Toshiba to Launch a 2-Channel DC Brush Motor Driver IC "TB67H400A"

Parallel Channel Control Supports High Current Drive at Maximum Output of 8.0A

TOKYO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 8, 2013Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced the launch of “TB67H400A”, a 2-channel motor driver IC for brush motors that supports high voltages and currents. Sample shipments starts today and mass production is scheduled to start in October this year.

The latest high voltage analog process used for “TB67H400A”, realizes a 50V maximum rating and low on resistance[1] of 0.5Ω (maximum, sum of the upper and lower side) during motor drive output, supporting maximum output current of 4.0A per channel for a 2-channel drive. Toshiba’s original parallel channel control function (large mode) offers 8.0A maximum output current when 2-channel parallel outputs are used as a 1-channel driver.

The driver IC is available in a 4 package line-up that supports various customer requirements, such as equipment downsizing with a small package, and continuous operation at high current with a high-power dissipation package.

Key Features of the New Products
1. High current drive
Reduction of maximum on resistance to 0.5Ω (sum of the upper and lower side) realizes 4.0A per channel as maximum output current (4.0A x 2 channels). Large mode supports 8.0A maximum output current (8.0A x 1 channel).

2. Package line-ups
Heat dissipating ZIP package improves allowable power dissipation, supporting applications that require continuous motor drive at high current.
Small QFN and HTSSOP package contributes to downsizing of equipment and reduction of material costs.
HSOP package enables flow soldering on a paper phenolic board whose demand is increasing for the reduction of PCB cost.

3. Integrated abnormality detection functions
The ICs integrate a thermal shutdown circuit, overcurrent shutdown circuit, and undervoltage lockout circuit, contributing to highly reliable applications.

Applications
Home appliances such as sewing machines, ATMs, banknote recognition equipment, amusement machines and office automation equipment
