MELVILLE, N.Y., April 18, 2013 -- Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced its complete current CXDI lineup of digital radiology systems as well as the Virtual Imaging, Inc., a Canon U.S.A Company, RadPRO lineup have received Air Force (AF) information assurance certification. AF Certification and Accreditation (C&A) marks a significant breakthrough for Canon and its subsidiary, Virtual Imaging, as they are the first companies in the digital radiology marketplace to receive this certification and accreditation on their complete portfolio of direct capture radiology systems. This certification validates that the security features of the Canon CXDI Digital Detectors and Virtual Imaging's RadPRO digital radiology systems meet the stringent security requirements of the Air Force.

"While this is a growing issue in all industries, the Air Force's rigorous guidelines and testing of devices such as Canon's suite of digital detectors and Virtual Imaging's RadPRO radiology systems help us prevent security breaches so that the Air Force Medical Service Team can rest assured their radiological devices are secure, reliable and, most importantly, saving lives."
The AF conducted an extensive certification and accreditation process of the current CXDI digital detectors and RadPRO devices, including a detailed review of the product design, configuration, workflow, FDA clearance (where required), and maintenance plans, as well as a full risk assessment of system scans and documentation. This analysis and testing led to the granting of Air Force Certification and Accreditation for the Canon digital radiography detectors and RadPRO lineup.

The AFCAP Certified and Accredited Canon CXDI digital detectors and RadPRO systems can be purchased and installed and utilized at any of the AFMS medical facilities. Currently, the AFMS uses Canon products at many deployed and fixed facilities throughout the world.
