Autodesk Software Used in One-Of-A-Kind Carousels, and Inventor Publisher now available for Android!

June 29, 2011 -

Inventor of the Month
Today Autodesk announced its June Inventor of the Month, Carousel Works.  Carousel Works is the only company in the world that carves and paints beautiful wooden carousels by hand, delivering more than 45 custom made carousels to zoos, parks and even Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise ships on earth.

Carousel Works uses Autodesk’s 3D mechanical design and visualization software to create old-world wooden carousels with the highest quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each carousel is unique with more than 160 animals, insects and reptiles for customers to choose from — ranging from sea turtles to panda bears.

Autodesk Product Design Suite is vital to nearly every aspect of carousel construction, with Inventor 3D mechanical design software helping design the structural framework of the carousel and the mechanical systems that power it. With Inventor, Carousel Works is reducing carousel design and manufacturing time by nearly 50 percent.

Inventor Publisher for Android
Today Autodesk also announced that Autodesk Inventor Publisher will now be available on Android devices. Inventor Publisher helps manufacturers explain and differentiate products with clear, accurate and easy-to-follow 2D and 3D product instructions, available on select mobile devices including the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and now the Android via the free Inventor Publisher Mobile Viewer App.  A June 2010 U.S. Consumer Survey showed that 61 percent of consumers who shop online would be more inclined to purchase a product if given online access to 3D assembly instructions.  It comes as no surprise then, that companies such as IKEA, BicycleTutor.com and Engineering.com have selected Autodesk Inventor Publisher to aid consumers in do-it-yourself (DIY) assembly.
