GateRocket Offers Unique FPGA Design Solution to Japan Through Distribution Agreement With Altima

BEDFORD, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jan 05, 2011 -- Citing strong overseas demand for its innovative verification and debug solutions for advanced FPGAs, GateRocket, Inc. continues to build out its global sales and support network, announcing an agreement with Altima Corporation, the leading Japanese electronic products distributor and solution provider. Altima is the third international distributor the company has retained this year, following announcements with India's Trident Techlabs, and AcconSys in China.

"Advanced FPGAs are playing a larger role in the development of products around the world and the Japan market represents a large opportunity for us to offer our solution to increasingly difficult design challenges," said GateRocket President and CEO, Dave Orecchio. "By teaming with Altima, which has a strong background in FPGAs through its relationships with Altera and Mentor Graphics, we are confident that our unique technology will be well represented and supported, and provide the verification and debug solutions FPGA designers need today."

As FPGA device complexity and size continue to grow, design verification has become the primary time-to-market challenge. GateRocket offers the industry's first Device Native® approach to the specific verification and debug challenges involved with the most advanced FPGAs. The company focuses exclusively on FPGA design. Its RocketDrive® and RocketVision® products cut FPGA simulation and lab debug time in half versus traditional approaches. This is accomplished by integrating the FPGA into the simulation environment through the RocketDrive to enable a native execution of the design on the target FPGA device. The accompanying RocketVision debugging tool provides unprecedented levels of visibility and patent-pending debug algorithms to enable engineers to track down and correct sources of design errors. By combining the actual FPGA hardware and RTL simulation models in the same verification run, GateRocket slashes verification and lab debugging time.

Altima's existing relationships with GateRocket partners such as Altera and Mentor Graphics makes them well-positioned to deliver the company's solutions to Japanese customers. GateRocket supports the latest versions of the Stratix® family from Altera with its RocketDrive system, and its verification solutions are widely used by Altera customers elsewhere in the world. GateRocket has also recently collaborated with Mentor on a streamlined verification-to-synthesis flow, a solution that is especially well-tuned for developers of FPGAs targeting safety-critical applications in military and aerospace markets -- a growing market for Japanese-based design operations. The solution combines the performance and efficiency of GateRocket's tool set for FPGA debug and verification with Mentor's Precision® Synthesis solution, a high-performance FPGA tool suite that is also the industry's leading rad-tolerant synthesis-based solution. The integration allows designers to more efficiently verify and debug important high-reliability features such as synthesis-based triple modular redundancy (TMR) and compliance with safety-critical standards such as DO-254.

"Today, short turnaround but high quality system development is required by our customers. Altima recognizes a top priority for our customer is to improve their productivity," said Toru Saito, Vice President Applications and Engineering at Altima. "The GateRocket debug and verification system rapidly improves system development productivity. We believe the combination of GateRocket's innovative solution and Altima's technical knowledge of FPGA and development tools will shorten time for system development, addressing a major challenge for our customers."
