SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 10, 2009 -- Chief executives John Daane of Altera and Walden C. Rhines of Mentor Graphics will address semiconductor industry and market issues as keynote speakers at the seventh annual Globalpress Electronics Summit in San Francisco March 31-April 2. Mr. Rhines, CEO of Mentor Graphics, will talk about the challenges and opportunities offered by the low power discontinuity.

The Globalpress Electronics Summit, held yearly in the Bay Area since 2003, provides a forum for semiconductor, electronic design automation and embedded systems companies to deliver news and trend information to more than 50 members of the international trade and business media.

At the summit, sponsoring companies announce new products, company strategies, and partnerships, and discuss important issues affecting the industry. This year, for example:

--  Patrick Mannion, editor in chief of TechOnline, will kick off the

--  Bryan Lewis, research vice president and chief analyst at Gartner,
    will chair a panel entitled, "FPGAs or Custom Silicon." Focusing on low-
    cost consumer products, participants from Altera, Global Unichip, and other
    vendor companies will debate the use of field-programmable gate arrays vs.
    custom silicon.
