NEC V850ES Microcontrollers Added to Intellitech's On-Chip Programming Support

DURHAM, NH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 09, 2009 -- Intellitech Corporation, www.intellitech.com, the leader in lowering electronic product costs through IEEE 1149.1/JTAG, has announced that it has added support for the NEC electronics V850ES microcontrollers to its UltraTAP pod and PT100 concurrent testers used in volume manufacturing. The V850ES devices include up to 256K bytes of on-chip FLASH. A library of V850ES programming routines has been added to Intellitech's popular Eclipse family of software. The library supports automatic download and verification of customer program code to the on-chip memory. A typical application of Intellitech's PT00 testers would be to perform JTAG and analog tests of an automotive PCB then download microcontroller test code onto the V850ES, concurrently, on thirty-two or more at a time. This would be followed by concurrently programming the V850ES devices with the customer's mission mode program code on PCBs that pass all of the prior tests.

"The NEC Electronic V850ES device family is used widely in automotive applications for anti-theft mechanisms, climate control systems, airbags, hands-free systems, and small thin-film-transistor (TFT) products. This support in our toolset is part of our long standing strategy of mixing boundary-scan, functional test and on-chip programming onto a single concurrent tester optimized for testing large numbers of PCBs concurrently," said CJ Clark, CEO of Intellitech Corporation. "The slow down in the automotive industry and economy as a whole puts pressure on manufacturers to seek cost effective solutions to meet the increase in the number of microcontrollers and overall use of vehicle electronics. Intellitech is uniquely positioned to provide those cost effective solutions with testers that provide higher fault coverage and test more product at less cost than traditional in-circuit testers."
