Astra Microwave Speeds Up MMIC Component Design for Phased-Array Radars With NI AWR Software

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – July 7, 2015 -- NI (formerly AWR Corporation) announces that Astra Microwave Products Limited (AMPL), a leading Indian design and manufacturing firm of high quality RF/microwave modules and sub-systems, has designed an S-band gallium arsenide (GaAs) monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) digital phase shifter as well as a digital attenuator for active phased-array radars using NI AWR Design Environment™ software.  Microwave Office gave the designers an advantage by speeding up the layout process as any changes made in the layout were automatically updated in the schematic with updated simulation results and AXIEM provided the designers with the ability to EM simulate and optimize the entire structure and avoid layout coupling.

“NI AWR software has improved the AMPL MMIC design flow and has reduced simulation times while at the same time providing better accuracy in simulation results,” said K. Suman Reddy, assistant manager and M. Laxmi, engineer at Astra. “It has given us an incredible advantage by speeding up the entire layout process.’’
