SAN JOSE, CALIF. –– January 22, 2014 –– Forte Design Systems™, named the #1 provider of software to enable design at a higher level of abstraction for the second straight year by Gary Smith EDA (GSEDA), today announced it finished 2013 with double-digit growth and increased market share.

According to GSEDA’s 2013 Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Market Trends, Forte remained #1 in the Electronic System Level (ESL) synthesis, the designation it uses to describe the market segment. GSEDA estimates Forte’s market share at 31%, expanding its margin over the nearest competitor.

Highlighting Forte’s accomplishments and seventh year of consecutive growth are new customers LG Electronics, Hitachi Information & Communication Engineering, and Kyocera Document Solutions, where its Cynthesizer™ SystemC-based high-level synthesis (HLS) software replaced another synthesis tool. Forte also expanded further into India through its partnership with CircuitSutra for design services and IP.

In early 2013, Forte unveiled Cynthesizer 5 with low power synthesis capabilities, enhanced core synthesis algorithms, and a new SystemC integrated development environment (IDE). Additionally, Forte launched the Forte Design Systems Channel on YouTube as part of its enhanced education and training program to address a range of topics related to SystemC, HLS and Cynthesizer.
