FISHER/UNITECH to Provide SolidWorks Plastics

Troy, MI (April 16, 2012) - FISHER/UNITECH, leading reseller of SolidWorks® 3D design software, will now offer SolidWorks Plastics, a new product provided by Dassault Systemes.  SolidWorks Plastics brings easy-to-use injection molding simulation directly to the designers of plastic parts and injection molds. It simulates how melted plastic flows during the injection molding process to predict manufacturing-related defects on parts and molds. You can quickly evaluate manufacturability while you design, eliminate costly mold rework, improve part quality, and accelerate the time to market.  A Results Adviser provides troubleshooting steps and practical design advice to help diagnose and solve potential problems.

“The release of SolidWorks Plastics is timely and will directly address the validation needs of the SolidWorks community involved in plastic part or mold engineering,” said Tom Miller, Director of Sales at FISHER/UNITECH.  “SolidWorks continues to demonstrate a commitment to leveraging highly efficient 3D modeling with value added engineering tools our customers both need and enjoy.”

The new products run fully embedded inside of SolidWorks, providing part designers and mold makers with familiar and intuitive workflows so they can quickly optimize their part and mold designs for manufacturability. The ability to make design changes early in the design phase helps ensure that the mold works right the first time, reducing or eliminating the need for rework and improving part quality. In addition, SolidWorks Plastics provides users with valuable knowledge so they can determine whether changes to the part geometry, mold design, material selection or processing conditions will have a positive impact on the ability to manufacture their products.  It is packaged in two ways: SolidWorks Plastics Professional, which is geared towards part designers, and SolidWorks Plastics Premium, which is better suited for mold designers and makers.  FISHER/UNITECH has been chosen from a select group of resellers to be the first to carry this product. More information can found on SolidWorks Plastics including a downloadable brochure and video on FISHER/UNITECH’s website.
