Five Leading EDA Vendors Announce Agreement to Develop Interoperable PCell Library for Analog and Mixed Signal Design The IPL supports the OpenAccess database from the Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2), and is available now as open-source software that any interested party can use. For the first time in semiconductor industry history, an integrated circuit designer will be able to use the same PCell libraries in tools from all five vendors, plus with OpenAccess-based tools from other vendors or universities, or developed in-house.
The five companies involved with the project include Applied Wave Research (AWR), Ciranova, Silicon Canvas, Silicon Navigator and Synopsys. All five companies developing the IPL support the OpenAccess database and are members of Si2. Other companies have been invited to participate, and that invitation remains open to all interested parties.
Synopsys And Magma Agree To Settle All Litigation Synopsys and Magma agree to release all claims in both California and Delaware and to cross license the patents at issue in these jurisdictions as well as any related applications. Both companies agree not to initiate future patent litigation against each other for two years provided certain terms are met. Magma agrees to make a payment to Synopsys of $12,500,000 toward the settlement of this dispute; and,
AWR Announces Tenth Consecutive Year of Record Growth and Financial Performance Dane Collins Takes Over as CEO AWR had an impressive 20% increase in sales for fiscal year 2007Dane Collins, former executive vice president, is taking over as CEO effective immediately. Collins, who has been with the company since 1998, replaces James Spoto, who is leaving the company in order to travel and spend more time with his family. The change is being made as part of an overall strategic plan that maps to the long-term goals of the company.
Synopsys Discovery AMS Delivers New Level of Performance and Accuracy for Integrated Analog and Mixed-Signal Verification Discovery AMS 2007, is a comprehensive, integrated analog and mixed-signal (AMS) verification solution for complex SoC designs. Discovery AMS 2007 features three new components-next- generation FastSPICE simulation technology, a new unified AMS debug and visualization environment, and tight integration with Synopsys' VCS digital verification solution-that build upon Synopsys' technology-leading HSIM and NanoSim FastSPICE simulators
Berkeley Design Automation's Analog FastSPICE and RF FastSPICE Win EDN Magazine's 2006 Innovation Award Berkeley is the first analog and RF EDA tools to be honored with this exclusive award in five years. The award is based on the tools' full-SPICE accuracy, 5X to 10X performance versus SPICE, and vastly superior DC and periodic-steady-state (PSS) convergence.
