Posted anew every four weeks or so, the EDA WEEKLY delivers to its readers information concerning the latest happenings in the EDA industry, covering vendors, products, finances and new developments. Frequently, feature articles on selected public or private EDA companies are presented. Brought to you by EDACafe.com. If we miss a story or subject that you feel deserves to be included, or you just want to suggest a future topic, please contact us! Questions? Feedback? Click here. Thank you!

For example we work with companies like Sony to allow them to verify blocks that are going to be used for they call platform based design, a single block by a designer maybe on six different products in the beginning and then reused modified for other products. With simulation you can only verify your design for one mode, for one specific configuration because you barely have time to do that, What Sony is doing is pre-verfying these blocks for the entire spectrum of operating configurations so that they can now reuse them without re-verifying them, If they modify these blocks they can plug and play these HLRs. We are not implementation specific. Talk about productivity.

The top five articles over the last two weeks as determined by the number of readers were

Mentor Graphics Appoints New VP of Worldwide Consulting Paul Hofstadler, former CEO and founder of 360Bridge Corporation who also served as vice president to several other EDA companies including Silicon Metrics Corporation and Xynetix Design Systems.

Synopsys Joins Si2 As a member of Si2, Synopsys will advocate the migration of analog design to OpenAccess. Synopsys is also making available to Si2 its open source Liberty CCS model.

STMicroelectronics Cuts Verification Time in Half With Synopsys' VCS RTL Verification Solution STMicroelectronics used VCS' high-performance, built-in coverage technology to help ensure verification completeness and to increase confidence in the quality of the 10 million-gate design targeted at television applications.

Celoxica and SGI have teamed to deliver libraries and tools defining a software programming environment for algorithm acceleration using FPGAs. SGI intends to include evaluation copies of Celoxica's design software as part of its RASC development kit shipping this month.
