These demanding integer-centric codes benefit from the variable bit width operations and fine grain parallelism inherent to PCIe attached Xilinx FPGA based co-processors.
Demanding codes previously written for sequential machines continue to experience suboptimal performance levels unless they're modified to exploit the hybrid combination of CPUs and FPGAs. The plug-in enables a simple solution to write accelerated algorithm code for a dedicated MVP data parallel co-processor to test performance advantages. The Plug-In Processors can be configured as a low cost, single plug-in to an inexpensive PC, or stacked in a multi PCIe card slot cage for highly dense, high performance embedded hybrid computer. The Mitrionics MVP210 Hybrid Computing Plug-In Processor is scheduled for availability in Q4 2008 with a list price of $14,900 USD.
