CUPERTINO, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—May 7, 2007— iamba Networks, leading provider of gigabit passive optical networking (GPON) solutions for the telecommunications industry, today announced its comprehensive new suite of products, the iamba GPON Eco-System (iGES) solution. The iGES solution is based on iamba's high-performance, tightly integrated SoCs and offers a complete solution for OLT and ONT system vendors.
The OLT component of iGES includes the iSL2402, a dual-PON SoC,
complete GPON management software suite and a reference design that
has been tested by several operators worldwide. A quad-PON SoC,
iSL2404, will be released in 4Q 2007. The ONT solution, based on
iamba's iSN1000 SoC, is a certified manufacturable design that
includes PON management and triple-play application layer software,
electronic and mechanical design. As part of its iGES solution, iamba
offers a manufacturing license for its ONT product line, which
includes outdoor and indoor ONTs designed based on inputs from major
operators. iamba's ONTs have passed interoperability tests with most
major OLT vendors and have been tested by a number of Tier 1 operators
worldwide. iamba offers sustaining engineering support throughout the
life cycle of each product as part of the iGES solution.
Using iamba's iGES solution TEMs can skip the costly product
design, test, verification and certification phases and move directly
to the production phase and product delivery, significantly reducing
time-to-market, development risks and cost. According to Infonetics, a
leading market research firm, GPON is the leading growth segment of
the telecom market with an expected annual growth rate of more than
116 percent over the next five years. Over this same period Infonetics
research forecasts total ONT revenues reaching $2.83 billion and the
total OLT revenues at $1.11 billion.

The iGES solution is based on state of the art, next generation
SoCs developed and owned entirely by iamba: the iSN1000-a line of ONT
SoCs and the iSL2400 OLT SoCs.
The iSN1000 ONT SoCs, include a SERDES, a multi-core processor
architecture and software supporting management, VoIP, IPTV and legacy
services and iamba's unique Traffic Pump Module (iTPM) delivering
1Gbps wire-speed data at all packet sizes. The iSN1000 line is
comprised of versions optimized for SFU, SBU and MDU applications.
The ISL2400 is comprised of dual-PON and quad-PON versions. The
currently available iSL2402 is a dual-PON OLT SoC, which supports 64
ONTs per PON, FEC and AES. The device, based on a unique multi-core
processor architecture also supports a powerful Dynamic Bandwidth
Allocation (DBA) function to maximize the bandwidth utilization of the
PON interface. The iSL2402 is currently in use by a number of Tier-1
TEMs and has been successfully tested by leading carriers in the
United States, Europe and Asia.
Based on the proven technology of the iSL2402, the iSL2404 is a
highly integrated OLT SoC supporting four GPON interfaces per chip,
significantly lower power and lower cost on a per-PON basis.
Full design information for the iSN1000 ONT SoC will be available
in July 2007 and the device will sample in September 2007. Similarly,
design information for the iSL2404 quad-PON OLT SoC will be available
in September 2007 and the device will sample in November 2007.
