JEDEC To Hold Symposium On New LPDDR2 Low-Power Memory Standard

New Standard Enables Higher Performance, Lower Power Consumption and SDRAM/NVM Interface Compatibility; Event to Coincide with MemCon 2009

ARLINGTON, Va., USA – MAY 19, 2009 – JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, the global leader in standards development for the microelectronics industry, today announced plans to hold a one-day educational symposium on the recently published JEDEC LPDDR2 standard. Scheduled to coincide with Denali MemCon 2009, the LPDDR2 Symposium will be held be held on Thursday, June 25 at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, CA. For a full agenda and registration for JEDEC’s LPDDR2 Symposium, visit:

Designed to facilitate understanding and faster adoption of the new memory standard, the LPDDR2 Symposium will include technical presentations by major DRAM and flash memory producers, and is intended to provide a detailed introduction to the LPDDR2 standard. Operational characteristics, advancements from prior generation memory technology, a groundbreaking shared memory interface and other critical information will be covered.

JEDEC LPDDR2 is intended to enhance the design of smart phones, cell phones, PDAs, GPS units, handheld gaming consoles, and other next-generation mobile devices by enabling increased memory density, improved performance, smaller size and an overall reduction in power consumption as well as longer battery life.

Product designers, applications engineers, system designers, systems architects, packaging engineers, board engineers, signal integrity experts, mobile handset designers and marketing managers will be able to add considerably to their professional development in these financially challenging times by attending this event. The registration fee for the JEDEC LPDDR2 event is just $175 for members ($200 for non-members) through June 17. Since the LPDDR2 Symposium is co-located with MemCon, attendees can limit travel expenses by combining both events into one trip.

“With low power, high performance, scalability and the ability to share a single memory interface between both non-volatile and volatile memories, LPDDR2 is revolutionary in its scope and versatility,” said Roger Isaac, Chairman of JEDEC’s JC-42.6 Subcommittee for Low Power Memory. He added, “Considering the complexity of the changes made compared to the previous generation memory technology, attendees will benefit greatly by hearing directly from the experts behind the standard’s development.”

“JEDEC is pleased to offer a targeted, in-depth introduction to the new LPDDR2 standard,” said Mian Quddus, Chairman of JEDEC’s Board of Directors. “In addition, we recognize that professional development budgets are limited this year, and hope that co-locating the event alongside MemCon will enable more interested engineers and designers to attend.”

Denali MemCon 2009 will be co-located with the JEDEC LPDDR2 Symposium at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara on June 22-24. No other event provides access to so many high-quality presentation sessions with leading memory and storage solution experts and system developers. Over 25 exclusive sessions range from detailed technical presentations on emerging technology and standards in the DRAM, Flash and SSD arenas, to open panel discussions that address key business issues in the industry. Registration is now available and FREE to industry professionals. For more information, visit
