Co-Founder and former CEO of Numerical Technologies
For pioneering work and leadership toward development of technologies and tools addressing the critical issues of subwavelength design and manufacturing to improve the quality and performance of integrated circuit.
“IQ-Award recognizes individuals who have made fundamental contributions in the areas of quality electronic design and engineering education,” said Dr. Ali A. Iranmanesh, the ISQED founder, and the CEO & founder of Silicon Valley Technical Institute. “I am pleased that this year’s recipients have championed innovative solutions and practices that have resulted in clear advancement of the manufacturability and reliability of integrated circuits.”
IQ-Award 2008 was sponsored by Microsoft Corp. Winners were announced by Drew Gude, U.S. high-tech and electronics industry solutions, Microsoft, during the ISQED luncheon ceremony sponsored by Synopsys.
“I am honored to present ISQED08 Quality Awards to Dr. Steve Kang, Dr. Res Saleh and Dr. Buno Pati,” said Drew Gude. “These gentlemen have made significant contributions to the field of quality electronic design, and on behalf of Microsoft and the high-tech and electronics industry, I thank them for their efforts. Microsoft, as a producer of consumer electronic products and software solutions, is keenly aware of the importance of quality, both in the electronic product and in the software used to design it. I am also very pleased to see the continuing partnership of academia and industry in together advancing the state of the art.”
ISQED Quality Award, dubbed as IQ-Award was established in 2007 to recognize individuals who have made significant and often lasting contributions to the field of quality in electronic design. The award recipients will be selected from a pool of qualified candidates from various disciplines encompassing the field of electronic design such as: circuit and system design, design automation, semiconductor technology, IC packaging, test, as well as management/leadership/education fostering the spirit of quality by instilling and promoting quality in electronic design.
“I have witnessed the pioneering and critical role of ISQED in planning the seeds of quality in electronic design over the past decade,” said Dr. Resve Saleh, an IQ-Award recipient, “Today the design quality concepts promoted by ISQED are taking roots and spreading to encompass all aspects of electronic design. I am honored to be amongst recipient of this Award and I accept it on behalf of the people who worked at Simplex.”
ISQED08 is being held from March 17 to March 19 of 2008, in DoubleTree Hotel, San Jose, California. The conference features full day tutorials, embedded tutorials, panel discussions, six keynote speeches, exhibits, and over 150 technical presentations. ISQED corporate sponsors are Synopsys, Microsoft, Cadence Design Systems, Magma Design Automation, Mentor Graphics, Ponte Solutions, and Silicon Valley Technical Institute. ISQED08 media sponsors are EDACafe and Chip Design Magazine.
The International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (ISQED) is a premier Design & Design Automation conference, aimed at bridging the gap between and integration of, electronic design tools and processes, integrated circuit technologies, processes & manufacturing, to achieve design quality. ISQED is the pioneer and leading conference dealing with design for manufacturability and quality issues, front to back. The conference provides a forum to present and exchange ideas and to promote the research, development, and application of design techniques & methods, design processes, and EDA design methodologies and tools that address issues which impact the quality of the realization of designs into physical integrated circuits. ISQED emphasizes a holistic approach toward design quality and intends to highlight and accelerate cooperation among the IC Design, EDA, and Semiconductor Process Technology and Manufacturing communities.
