CML introduces Hyperstone F3 family of CompactFlash™ and Solid State Disk controllers to its lineup

February 14, 2008 -- CML Microcircuits UK Ltd, a leading innovator and provider of low-power semiconductors for Global wireless, wireline and embedded communications markets, today announces the introduction of the F3 family of Flash Memory Controllers from Hyperstone GmbH to its product lineup.
Targeting applications such as Solid State Disk (SSD), Disk-on-Module (DoM), CompactFlash™ (CF) cards, and embedded Flash or disks-on-board, the F3, together with firmware provides lowest powerconsumption, highest reliability, endurance, and rigorous fail safe features for all Single Level Cell (SLC) and Multi- Level Cell (MLC) based Flash Memory solutions.

Based on the Hyperstone 32 Bit RISC core including instruction set extensions optimized for Flash handling, the F3 offers among others, safe power fail handling, proven error detection and correction, superior wear leveling that involves all physical blocks including the ones containing static data, satisfying the most demanding requirements regarding data traffic and power fail situations.

"The F2 family was introduced 5 years ago and since then it has achieved incredible success in a variety of consumer applications due to its performance and reliability. Algorithms focusing on reliability, endurance and fail-safe features have been improved further, resulting in the new F3, which offers an increased level of performance." said Tom Mailey, Sales Operations Manager at CML UK Ltd.

CML Microcircuits and Hyperstone are both part of the CML Microsystems Plc Group, allowing seamless sales distribution and global support to made available for the F3 family of products. CML supplies the complete range of Hyperstone RISC/DSP processors along with flash memory card controllers. Full product information is available on both the Hyperstone ( www.hyperstone.com) and CML ( www.cmlmicro.com) websites.
