The use of FPGA-based methods for prototyping complex systems provides a fast, accurate alternative for proving software functionality prior to final hardware availability. However, debug solutions that allow the fast tracing of core issues are still required to allow the full exploitation of these prototyping methodologies.
Leveraging a seamless use-model with Precision, DiaLite allows the easy insertion of powerful hardware debug elements directly into the FPGA design, which are then activated during prototype runtime to supply key data directly to a software debug environment. Verification capabilities including Assertions, Bus Analyzers, and Random Generators are utilized to drive the testing process. Extracted data, can be stored inside the memory of the FPGA or in a mass storage device included as part of the debug environment, to enable the recording of lengthy verification runs. The data is then passed to a powerful software environment with a complete range of tools for bug observation and elimination.
"Mentor is continuously looking to enhance FPGA design and verification solutions to benefit customers" stated Daniel Platzker, product line director, Mentor Graphics design creation and synthesis division. "This Temento package provides an integrated verification flow with Precision Synthesis that improves debug functionality, so critical for modern design and prototyping methodologies."
Mentor's Precision combined with the unique power of DiaLite, enables a powerful FPGA prototyping flow" added Patrice Deroux-Dauphin, CEO of Temento systems. "Now the benefits offered by DiaLite, proven within many customer flows, can be leveraged by Precision users easily with no risk."
The DiaLite Precision Edition is available now., on a no-charge trial program. For further information, visit the Temento web site: http://www.temento.com/index.php?rubrique=80.
