Cadence Space-Based Router Wins EDN Innovation Award for Electronic Design Automation

(NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic-design innovation, today announced that the Cadence® Space-Based Router won the 17th annual EDN "Innovation of the Year" Award for outstanding innovation in IC Back-End and DFM design automation.

Cadence Space-Based Router is a silicon-proven, full-chip and block routing solution for advanced mixed-signal, analog, and custom digital designs. The product speeds design and manufacturing convergence by allowing designers to model manufacturing and electrical effects during the design process for design performance closure and faster time-to-volume manufacturing ramp-up.

Complex design interconnect rules, including those for 65 and 45 nanometer, challenge the physical modeling capability of traditional shape-based and gridded routers. Cadence Space-Based Router uses a three-dimensional, space-based modeling approach that provides greater accuracy, flexibility and performance than alternative solutions. It also enables concurrent design performance and manufacturing convergence with its in-core electrical analysis coupled with design-for-manufacturing and design-for-yield awareness that is critical for design closure at these advanced process nodes.

On January 30, 2007, the Cadence Space-Based Router also won the DesignVision Award in the "ASIC and IC design tool" category, which was presented at DesignCon 2007 by the International Engineering Consortium. Winners were chosen by the DesignCon Technical Program Committee, consisting of 96 of the industry's top thought leaders. By receiving both the EDN Innovation and DesignVision awards, the Space-Based Router is gaining wide-spread recognition for excellence in the industry.
