Sandwork Design chosen by VIA to Debug Analog and Mixed-Signal Chip Designs

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 8, 2005-- Sandwork Design, Inc. today announced that its analog and mixed-signal circuit debugging tools have been incorporated into the integrated circuit (IC) design flow at VIA Technologies Inc., a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions.

VIA’s design teams are using Sandwork’s tools to debug DVD decoder designs and PC-related project designs containing analog-digital converters (ADCs), phase-locked loops (PLLs), and other analog and mixed-signal devices.

“VIA is the foremost fabless supplier of market-leading core logic chipsets and platform solutions that are driving system innovation in the PC and embedded markets,” said Jack Yao, president and CEO of Sandwork Design. “Their history of industry firsts is due in part to using electronic design automation products that give them the highest efficiency and fastest time to market. We’re pleased that the Sandwork tools and support gave them the results they needed.”

VIA has adopted Sandwork’s Spice Explorer, a complete transistor-level debugging environment that offers pre-simulation SPICE-centric productivity resources and extensive post-simulation waveform analysis and reporting capabilities.

“Spice Explorer lets us debug netlists, check syntax, preview stimulus, and extract measure’ statements – all before firing up the simulator,” said Alan Liaw, Assistant vice president at VIA Technologies. “Without the Sandwork tools, we would spend days simulating, only to find out at the end that we needed to fix something, and then we would have to re-simulate. Now we save our simulation resources for actual simulation – a much more efficient way to work.”
