ZFOUNDRY Collaborates with Cadence to Reduce Time-to-Market with Process Design Kits for Analog and Mixed-Signal ICs

DRESDEN, Germany—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 7, 2005— ZFOUNDRY(R) today announced a collaborative agreement with Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) (Nasdaq:CDN) which will enable ZFOUNDRY to deliver process design kits (PDKs) targeting analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs). The PDKs integrate ZFOUNDRY's ZMD Advanced CMOS (ZACMOS) mixed-signal processes with the Cadence(R) Virtuoso(R) custom design platform to enable an accelerated path from design to volume production for customers.

"Today's designers face a constant challenge to meet shrinking time-to-market requirements," said Jan Willis, Senior Vice President, Industry Alliances, at Cadence. "Addressing this challenge takes collaboration from companies throughout the design chain. By combining ZFOUNDRY's PDKs with our Virtuoso platform, we can enable customers to accelerate design time and meet their product goals."

With extensive experience in the analog and mixed-signal market and an established customer base in Europe and the USA, ZFOUNDRY's strategic alliance with Cadence will strengthen existing customer relationships. The alliance will also provide opportunities for new customers who use Cadence's Virtuoso platform to tape-out designs to ZFOUNDRY.

Thilo von Selchow, CEO of ZFOUNDRY, said, "Working with Cadence allows us to meet our global customers' needs for solutions that support our advanced ZACMOS technologies. ZFOUNDRY brings significant knowledge and expertise in mixed-signal manufacturing processes, as well as years of experience addressing the needs of foundry customers for PDKs. Aligning our solutions with Cadence's Virtuoso platform offers our customers the highest level of support for product development."

ZFOUNDRY offers full support for a standard portfolio of mixed-signal technologies, including low-voltage, passive, and EEPROM devices, with long-term availability for all process generations and certified automotive qualification. The fab specializes in power management, converter, and driver ICs including devices with 40V capability, power (thick) and back metal. ZFOUNDRY produces 6" wafers with 0.6 micron technology at its factory in Dresden, Germany.
