"Alain Labat will help drive VaST’s global growth and consolidate our dominant position in the rapidly developing electronic systems engineering market," stated Graham Hellestrand, VaST’s founder and former president. "As the need for ESL technology grows, Alain’s proven experience in markets and technologies relevant to VaST will provide the leadership and perspective required to accelerate VaST’s solutions in the world market.” Hellestrand will continue as chairman of the board as well as chief technology and strategy officer.
"With the continued growth of complex embedded systems for everything from mobile phones to automobiles, we believe that VaST Systems Technology’s solutions are extremely well positioned to become the defacto standard for electronic systems level design. VaST’s virtual system prototyping enables cost-effective and sophisticated architecture design and optimization plus true hardware/software co-design and co-verification”, said Jim Smith, general partner of Mohr Davidow Ventures. “Alain's experience successfully growing global companies in similar technologies brings additional capability to the already strong VaST team”.
"As an early adopter of VaST’s virtual system prototyping technology, Infineon Munich has long recognized the enormous value of being able to model a complex system in software. VaST has the only solution that has both sufficient performance (up to the speed of the real hardware) and accuracy to be used as a golden reference model that can then drive the concurrent development of hardware and software,” said Carsten Mielenz, Director, System Labs, Secure Mobile Solutions Division of Infineon, Munich. “We think the company has huge potential and are very pleased to see an executive of Alain’s background and experience joining the company”.
Labat has over 20 years of EDA industry experience. Prior to joining VaST Systems Labat was CEO of TeraSystems and founder, president and CEO of Sequence Design. He was previously with Synopsys Inc. as senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.
Labat holds an MBA from INSEEC, France, and an MBA from Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona.
VaST Systems Technology Corporation provides architectural design and virtual system prototyping tools and software-simulation-based models for true concurrent development of the hardware and software components of complex embedded systems and systems-on-chip (SoCs). VaST's products deliver both high speed and cycle accuracy under actual real-time software loads, dramatically improving time to market and quality, and reducing development costs and risk. Current customers include world leaders in semiconductors, automotive electronics, wireless devices, and consumer electronics. VaST is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California with sales and support offices worldwide. For more information, visit www.vastsystems.com.
