Rohde & Schwarz and Blue Wonder Communications to demonstrate TD-LTE functionality at 4G World in Chicago

October 21, 2010 — Ro­hde & Schwarz, a premi­um sup­pli­er of test and mea­sure­ment so­lu­tions to the wire­less in­dus­try, and Blue Won­der, an in­de­pen­dent de­sign house and li­cen­sor of LTE IP and sys­tem so­lu­tions, to­day an­nounced a joint demon­stra­tion at 4G World 2010 in Chicago, Illi­nois, from Oc­to­ber 18 through Oc­to­ber 21 at Ro­hde & Schwarz booth (BoothU 627).

Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tions and Ro­hde & Schwarz have teamed up to demon­strate one of the lat­est mar­ket trends show­ing their TD-LTE ca­pa­bil­i­ties. The demon­stra­tion uti­lizes Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tion's BWC200 LTE IP ref­er­ence so­lu­tion and Ro­hde & Schwarz R&S®CMW500 Wide­band Ra­dio Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tester. The R&S®CMW500, a mul­ti-stan­dard plat­form, is sup­port­ing the lat­est de­vel­op­ment in 3GPP and 3GP­P2 stan­dards and is the most com­pre­hen­sive test so­lu­tion in the mar­ket for chipset and hand­set de­vel­op­ment, and for emerg­ing tech­nolo­gies like LTE and HSPA+, EDGE evo­lu­tion or VA­MOS.

Blue Won­der Com­mu­ni­ca­tion's BWC200 is ca­pable of han­dling FDD and TD-LTE on the same ar­chi­tec­ture and is there­fore the ide­al IP so­lu­tion for cus­tomers to de­ploy mul­ti-mode LTE de­vices world­wide. The BWC200 ref­er­ence plat­form uti­lizes the proven pro­to­col stack from 4M Wire­less for the 4G World demon­stra­tion. The 4M Wire­less LTE pro­to­col stack is de­ployed in sev­er­al com­mer­cial­ly avail­able LTE UE so­lu­tions and has un­der­gone sig­nif­i­cant IOT to date.

The demon­stra­tion is the re­sult of joint test­ing ac­tiv­i­ties for TD-LTE. A con­nec­tion is estab­lished be­tween the R&S®CMW500, act­ing as TD-LTE base sta­tion em­u­la­tor, and the BWC200, re­al­iz­ing a 2x2 MI­MO se­tup. The con­nec­tion is ver­i­fied by stream­ing a high-def­i­ni­tion video in down­link and uplink, which is vi­su­al­ized on two ex­ter­nal note­books.
