"Congratulations to the Carbon Design Systems team for offering models that give designers better tools to work with," says Don Dingee, editorial director for Embedded Computing Design and OpenSystems Media. "Carbon's ARM Mali models allow design teams the flexibility to explore architectural options, create SoC firmware and quickly develop application software easily."
These models, introduced in March, include the Mali-200 and Mali-400MP. They are compiled directly from ARM register transfer level (RTL) code and are 100% implementation accurate.
Each contains transaction level model (TLM)-2.0 interfaces to execute seamlessly with Fast Models from ARM as part of a system prototype and quickly boot an operating system such as Linux or Android. The interface and dynamic clock generation logic automatically turn the model on when it is being used and off when it is dormant. Consequently, the models run in a loosely timed (LT) level environment without slowing it down, except when they're active, enabling the same model to be used for architectural exploration, firmware development and application software development.
Mali models also contain a cycle-accurate TLM interface and integrate directly into Carbon SoC Designer Plus and any SystemC or RTL design environment.
"Carbon is pleased that our Mali models were selected by the Embedded Computing Design as an Editor's Choice," remarks Bill Neifert, Carbon's chief technology officer and founder. "This recognition of the Carbon design team reinforces our commitment to deliver best-in-class tools for the automatic creation, validation and deployment of system-level models."
