Altera Selects Lorentz Solution PeakView EM Tool Suite for High-Speed Designs

MILPITAS, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 10, 2009 Lorentz Solution, Inc., a developer of high-frequency integrated circuit (IC)-focused electromagnetic (EM) design and verification software, today announced that its flagship product PeakView™ EM simulation tool suite has been adopted by the Altera Corporation (NasdaqGS: ALTR) technology research and development (R&D) team for use in developing its next generation products. Altera provides the industry’s broadest portfolio of FPGAs with industry-leading density, performance, power and embedded transceiver capabilities to meet customers’ design specifications. PeakView’s integrated solution helps Altera to establish an electromagnetic design and verification flow to accelerate the design of complex EM structures on advanced process nodes.

“PeakView meets our stringent requirement for a complete solution from automatic layout creation to model generation with EM accuracy in an integrated design environment,” said Jeff Watt, Technology Architect at Altera. “PeakView’s PCircuit capability and Layout EM (LEM) technology enables our R&D team to rapidly parameterize advanced inductors with ease.”

PeakView offers a complete suite of fast and accurate EM device design and synthesis features that automates layout and model generation, and manages all the necessary design views (symbol, schematic, layout…), making PDK and design flow integration easy and seamless.

“We are very pleased to add Altera to our growing list of customers. Altera’s adoption further validates the significant value PeakView brings to EM design and verification for advanced process nodes, particularly in light of PeakView’s successful qualification in the TSMC EM certificate program we achieved last year,” said Jinsong Zhao, president and CEO of Lorentz Solution. “We are committed to providing an accurate, robust and friendly EM design platform to support our customers’ challenging RF/high-speed designs.”

About Lorentz

Lorentz Solution, Inc. based in Milpitas, California, was founded in 2002 to develop and market EM design and verification tools for high-frequency IC design. Semiconductor companies designing and building products for cost-sensitive applications such as UWB, WLAN, 3G, 10G PHY and a wide variety of high-speed analog designs use Lorentz products to improve overall system performance while reducing chip development costs and enhancing design efficiency.
