Altera, Mentor CEOs to Keynote Globalpress Electronics Summit in San Francisco March 31-April 2

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Feb 10, 2009 -- Chief executives John Daane of Altera and Walden C. Rhines of Mentor Graphics will address semiconductor industry and market issues as keynote speakers at the seventh annual Globalpress Electronics Summit in San Francisco March 31-April 2. Mr. Rhines, CEO of Mentor Graphics, will talk about the challenges and opportunities offered by the low power discontinuity.

The Globalpress Electronics Summit, held yearly in the Bay Area since 2003, provides a forum for semiconductor, electronic design automation and embedded systems companies to deliver news and trend information to more than 50 members of the international trade and business media.

At the summit, sponsoring companies announce new products, company strategies, and partnerships, and discuss important issues affecting the industry. This year, for example:

-- Patrick Mannion, editor in chief of TechOnline, will kick off the
summit with a panel of executives from Analog Devices, Maxim Integrated
Products, Microvision, VTI Technologies and Kionix about the "Future of
MEMS," and the impact of micro-electromechanical systems on medical and
industrial devices as well as telecom and handheld products.
-- John Donovan, editor of Portable Design, will moderate a discussion
among representatives from Mentor Graphics and National Semiconductor about
the challenges of designing portable devices that consume less power.
-- Ron Wilson, executive editor of EDN, will lead a panel of spokesmen
from Qualcomm, Tensilica and other companies on the topic of next-
    generation wireless broadband systems.
-- Bryan Lewis, research vice president and chief analyst at Gartner,
will chair a panel entitled, "FPGAs or Custom Silicon." Focusing on low-
cost consumer products, participants from Altera, Global Unichip, and other
vendor companies will debate the use of field-programmable gate arrays vs.
    custom silicon.

About the Summit

The Globalpress Electronics Summit allows C-level electronics executives -- without having to travel abroad -- to communicate with millions of design engineers and managers who read European and Asian trade and business publications. Every year, outlets such as Electronic Engineering & Product World, EDN China, EE Times Europe, Electronics Weekly, and Markt & Technik generate hundreds of articles as a result of the summit's presentations, panel discussions and networking events. About a dozen members of the U.S. media also attend the summit.
