In the second quarter the CAE segment accounted for 39% of total EDA revenue, IC Design & Verification for 23%, Semiconductor IP for 19.5%, PCB/MCM for 10% and Services for 8%.
For the second quarter of 2008 North America accounted for 43% of total EDA revenue, Europe for 20%, Japan for 21% and ROW for 16%.
Walden C. Rhines, EDAC chair and Mentor Graphics' CEO and chairman, said, “Solid year over year growth in the PCB/MCM and services segments were offset by declines in CAE, IC Physical Design & Verification, and Semiconductor IP, resulting in an overall decline for Q2 2008. Geographically, Western Europe and Japan showed growth in Q2, but this growth was offset by declines in North America and the rest of the world.”
Since the EDA Consortium reports lag by over three months, we won't know the total EDA revenue results for Q3 2008 till January or February 2009.
