Four bands comprising technology industry veterans -- 3rd Street Coalition, The Chad Tuckers, Full Disclosure Blues, and HandsOn-Quartet -- will donate their time and talent to provide entertainment for the event. Other activities include an auction and a raffle of donated gifts in which all proceeds go to Second Harvest. Hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided as well.
In addition to items such as a Nintendo Wii system, an "Iron Chef Dinner for Two," donated by Denali Software Inc., will be a featured auction item. The high bidder will receive a luxurious dinner for two prepared by Denali's own Dale Olstinske, Kevin Silver and Mike Dilorio, who are accomplished amateur chefs and were recently filmed for the "Iron Chef America" series by Food Network. Also being auctioned is a five-course Italian dinner for six prepared by EDN editor Mike Santarini and EDA industry analyst Gary Smith. EDN/Reed Business has donated the wine and food for the meal, which will be cooked and served at the high bidder's home, within 40 miles of downtown San Jose.
"We live in one of the most amazing places on earth, yet there are families who cannot afford to eat. I've always been impressed with the generosity of my friends in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and semiconductor industries," says Jim Hogan, private investor and EDA industry luminary. "I'm proud that we are coming together as a community to raise funds for the Second Harvest Food Bank and grateful to everyone involved for making this inaugural event a success and caring about families less fortunate than themselves."
Technology industry sponsors are making "The Heart of Technology" possible through monetary and gift donations. The event is endeavoring to raise at least $20,000 for 2nd Harvest at this inaugural event. Denali is a platinum sponsor. Gold sponsors include AMD and Cadence. Silver sponsors include Accelicon, Altos Design Automation, Aprio Technologies, Athena Design, CoWare, Ciranova, Clear Shape Technologies, Knowlent, Novas, Ponte Solutions, Tela Innovations, Inc., Vista Ventures and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and many others.
