Toshiba Announces Satellite(R) A105 Notebook PC with Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor


Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced its latest line of Toshiba Satellite(R) A105 notebook PCs featuring a model with the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor and a new Onyx Blue Metallic color, offering consumers affordable performance and style in a mobile form factor.

Designed to provide consumers with practical standard features as well as a variety of other configuration options to fit any budget or digital lifestyle, the Satellite A105 series notebooks start at six pounds(1) and come standard with a 15.4-inch diagonal widescreen display with TruBrite(TM) technology.

The Satellite A105-S4344 incorporates the latest Intel Centrino(R) Duo mobile platform with the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and features a new Onyx Blue Metallic color. Based on the new Intel Core Microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor is designed to handle multiple tasks in less time while consuming less power and reducing fan noise and heat.

Designed for optimum multimedia performance and productivity in this form factor, the Satellite A105-S4344 incorporates the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor(2) T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB) as well as a 200GB Serial-ATA hard drive(3), 2048MB DDR2 SDRAM dual-channel memory(4). The unit has an estimated single unit price (ESUP) of $1,449(5).

For enhanced multimedia performance and productivity, Toshiba announced the Satellite A105-S4284 featuring the Intel Core Duo Processor(2) T2050 (1.60GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB) as well as a 100GB serial-ATA hard drive(3) and 1024MB DDR2 SDRAM dual-channel memory(4) with a Mist Gray color. The system has an ESUP starting under $900(5).

Toshiba also announced the Satellite A105-S2201, an affordable avenue to quality portable computing with an ESUP starting under $750(5). Also in Mist Gray, the notebook features an Intel Celeron(R) M Processor(2) 420, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM of memory(4), 80GB serial-ATA hard drive(5) for ample storage of files, and Atheros(R) 802.11(b/g) wireless(6) LAN technology for on-the-go computing.

Every notebook in the new Satellite A105 notebook line comes standard with the following:

  • TruBrite(TM) technology that offers a brilliant display for games or movies, and easy viewing of spreadsheets and other productivity applications;
  • Toshiba's DVD SuperMulti (+/- R Double Layer) drive that reads and writes in up to 11 formats and nearly doubles a recordable DVD's storage capacity in dual-layer format;
  • SRS TruSurround XT(TM) technology for a rich audio experience;
  • DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM memory(4) for better performance of productivity applications and music, picture and video multimedia files;
  • four USB 2.0 ports for connectivity of accessories and peripherals;
  • Express Media Player that gives users convenient access to CD and DVD playback and other multimedia functions without booting up the Windows operating system.

The Satellite A105-S4344 also includes built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo speakers, a fingerprint reader for one-touch secure access management, and a customizable Dual Mode touch pad that can provide one-tap short cuts to launch e-mail, an Internet browser and other selected programs. Both the Satellite A105-S4344 and Satellite A105-S4284 feature Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005, while the Satellite A105-S2231 features Microsoft Windows XP Home.

The Satellite A105-S2231 is Windows Vista Capable while the Satellite A105-S4344 and Satellite A105-S4284 are Windows Vista Premium Ready, ensuring consumers will be able to upgrade to the new Windows Vista operating system while taking advantage of all the opportunities offered by Windows XP today. The Satellite A105 series notebooks come with a standard one-year limited warranty (7). The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service. Customers can also choose to upgrade their notebook's service plans for up to four years of extended service.

All new Toshiba notebook PCs are RoHS-compatible(8), reducing harmful environmental effects by restricting the use of lead, mercury and certain other hazardous substances.
