The two companies plan to jointly develop and market highly integrated, advanced networking and security OEM/ODM platforms for Wi-Fi(R) and VPN applications with an optimized hardware architecture and software components designed to leverage specialized hardware resources.
As a first step in a broader collaboration, the companies announced the availability of TeamF1's secure access point product "ASAP" and additional secure management capabilities integrated with AMCC's existing evaluation kit. A comprehensive, secure and managed access point solution, this initial integrated platform consists of TeamF1's ASAP and secure management middleware, AMCC's PowerPC 440GR-based Yellowstone evaluation kit and a standard off-the-shelf PCI-based Wi-Fi chipset. The pre-validated solution is targeted towards the growing market for full-featured secure access points and wireless gateways.
TeamF1's ASAP software sets a new standard by providing the ability to concurrently support many different generations of 802.11 security technology found in today's wireless networks -- from WEP through WPA, up to WPA2/ 802.11i, in either Personal (Pre-shared Key) or Enterprise (802.1X) modes. AMCC's PowerPC 440GR processor with integrated network connectivity and a 32-bit PCI v2.2 interface provides the necessary performance and interface features for a complete ODM/OEM-ready access point solution when combined with any standard PCI-based Wi-Fi(R) chipset.
TeamF1 is also in the process of validating and optimizing other market-leading security and networking software components in its portfolio for use with AMCC's existing and upcoming embedded PowerPC processors, making it easier for joint customers to bring secure connected embedded systems to market faster while benefiting from the use of leading edge protocols and technology.
