Ponte Solutions Appoints Jerry Rau as Worldwide Sales VP

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Jan. 11, 2006— Ponte Solutions, Inc., the design-for-yield company, today announced that EDA veteran Jerry Rau has been named vice president of worldwide sales.

Rau has worked in EDA and semiconductor sales and marketing roles for more than two decades, more than half of it with industry leader Synopsys. He is known for his "hands-on" style of working with and solving customer business challenges and will apply that style to building Ponte's sales channel and expanding the Ponte customer base.

"Establishing leadership in the rapidly emerging DFM market requires a sales executive with vision and strategic thinking as well as tactical execution," said Alex Alexanian, president and CEO of Ponte Solutions. "Jerry has consistently demonstrated all of these in the course of his career and will fill a crucial role in Ponte Solutions' next steps."

"Today, the DFM market segment is the most exciting part of EDA because the customer demand and the ROI are unquestionable," commented Rau, "and I chose to join a dynamic company that is delivering high value today and has a long term vision."

Jerry joins Ponte from Synopsys, where he held a wide variety of executive sales positions covering tools, IP, professional services, global accounts and distribution channel management. During Synopsys' early years of rapid growth he held marketing & business development management roles responsible for expanding the Design Compiler franchise and establishing relationships with more dominant EDA companies. Rau has also worked at LSI Logic as ASIC Marketing Manager, leading the product lifecycle of the first commercial sub-micron ASIC. Prior to that, he held marketing and process engineering positions at AMD. Rau received his BS in Chemical Engineering at MIT and an MS in Material Science from Stanford University.
