ROSEVILLE, MN, March 30, 2015 – WinterLogic, Inc., the industry leader in EDA fault simulation solutions, is proud to announce that today marks the tenth anniversary of its founding.
Ten years ago, WinterLogic co-founders Jason Campbell, Brian Davenport and Bryan Walsh set out to expand the Z01X fault simulator to meet the needs of the most advanced integrated circuits (IC) and systems on a chip (SoC).
Today WinterLogic’s Z01X is widely recognized as the leading functional fault simulator on the market. In manufacturing test, the software is used whenever functional or BIST patterns are needed. This ranges from small non-scan products such as security chip cards, to the most complex full-scan SoC for high-end smartphones. Z01X is also used by companies developing mixed-signal designs and IPs such as SerDes and DDR PHY. In functional safety testing, Z01X is used to perform complex fault injection campaigns in order to efficiently achieve IEC 61508 compliance and ISO26262 certification of automotive chips.
From the three original founders, the company has grown to seventeen employees.
- 2005: first fault simulator with automatic testability analysis and optimal test ordering
- 2009: first fault simulator with full IEEE 1364 Verilog 2001 support (including behavioral)
- 2012: first fault simulator with both RTL and gate-level fault injection capabilities
- 2015: first fault simulator with stuck-at, transition, bridge, IDDQ, and transient fault models
“When most semi-conductor companies moved to scan technologies, we recognized there would always be a need for functional fault simulation,” says Jason Campbell, President of WinterLogic. “Over the years we’ve streamlined and advanced our fault simulation algorithms so that today Z01X is by far the fastest and most powerful fault simulator available. We continue to invest over 80% of our revenue in the technology to meet the evolving needs of the semiconductor community.”
“Z01X is used by half of the top-twenty semiconductor companies in the world, and four of the five largest semiconductor fabless companies,” says Olivier Bolon, WinterLogic’s Director of Sales & Business Development. “This is an enormous achievement for an independent, self-funded EDA company. In 2014 we experienced a record year, with over 50% growth and many new customers - all number one in their respective fields: mobile, networking, telecom, microcontroller, and automotive sensors. And our business outlook for 2015 and 2016 is excellent.”
WinterLogic’s Z01X is the only commercial fault simulator with the capacity and performance to successfully fault grade the largest SoC for wireless, graphics, computing, and automotive. It is used for both RTL and gate-level fault simulation, and is up to 10X faster than any other fault simulator on the market.
With its advanced feature set, speed and capacity, WinterLogic’s Z01X is the tool of choice for meeting stringent automotive manufacturing and safety standards such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508. Z01X is capable of exhaustively injecting and simulating faults on complex automotive devices to verify safety logic and develop robust diagnostic tests and Software Based Self-Tests (SBST).
