SEMICON Russia 2013 Highlights Opportunities in Russia

MOSCOW, Russia, 17 April 2013 -- On June 4-6, the key industry players, science institutes and innovation business representatives will gather at SEMICON Russia, the premier Russian semiconductor exhibition and conference taking place in Moscow and nearby Zelenograd.  For the first time the Microelectronics Market Conference (June 4) associated with SEMICON Russia will be conducted in nearby Zelenograd, the location of the major semiconductor cluster in Russia. SEMICON Russia includes sessions on Advanced Packaging, MEMS, Semiconductor Market, Standards, and Photovoltaics, as well as exhibitor presentations on the show floor.

The Russian technology industry is progressing on the back of economic growth, greater political stability, expanding university/state funding programs, and increasing foreign investments. With the new programs for electronics development for 2015-2025 and the race for innovation, Russia offers new opportunities for the market players — including public-private partnership project development.

The Semiconductor and related industries enjoy a high level of support by the government, and SEMICON Russia is the perfect place to connect to the industry.  Investment opportunities definitely exist in Russia for semiconductor and related technologies — Russia is set to invest significantly into R&D and industrialization of local semiconductor manufacturing.

Russian accession to the WTO reduced import taxes to close to zero by the end of 2012. In Russia, there is a sense of urgency about removing trade barriers and other time-consuming bureaucracy, especially for high-tech products.  Russian companies are looking for technical alliances to catch up with Western companies as quickly as possible.

The Microelectronics Market Conference in Zelenograd will provide a very effective platform for learning about the regional and global market, identifying promising areas for investment, establishing new contacts and developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Russian and foreign companies. Launched in 2000, the Conference has established a reputation as an important event for microelectronics and related industries specialists. The year’s edition will focus on “Innovative technology and advanced manufacturing to support the Russian Industry’s growth and competitiveness.”

The opening key note will be provided by Alexander Yakunin, director of the Radio-Electronics Industry Department in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation. In addition, Frost & Sullivan will present new data based on their recent market research on the electronic and semiconductor segment in Russia.

This year the Conference enjoys the support of the Moscow Government represented by the Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, Cluster Zelenograd, the Special Economic Zone “Zelenograd”, international research company Frost & Sullivan, Rostec Corporation, RUSNANO, JSC Angstrem-T as well as the participation of the Department of Radio-Electronic industry in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

Speakers at the Microelectronics Conference include:

  • Alexei Komissarov, director of Department of Science, Industrial Policy
  • Gennady Krasnikov, director general of Mikron and NIIME, head of SITRONICS Microelectronics, member, Scientific Advisory Council, Skolkovo Foundation
  • Yuri Vasiliev, director of Special Economic Zone "Zelenograd" and High-Tech cluster "Zelenograd"
