SANTA CLARA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 15, 2011POLYTEDA® Software Corp., provider of the most advanced technology for addressing the physical verification needs of deep sub-wavelength processes, today announced the appointment of Jim Hogan to their Board of Directors. Hogan, who will serve as chairman, has worked in the semiconductor design and manufacturing industry for more than 35 years as a senior executive in electronic design automation, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication companies.

Hogan is the managing partner of Vista Ventures, LLC; was a general partner at Telos Venture Partners and senior vice president of business development at Artisan Components Inc. (now part of ARM Holdings PLC.) He held senior engineering, marketing and operational management positions at Cadence Design Systems, Inc.; National Semiconductor Corporation; and Phillips Semiconductor. At National Semiconductor and Philips, he established device physics laboratories globally. He was also chief operating officer of Smart Machines, Inc., a semiconductor equipment automation company.

Hogan holds a B.A in mathematics, a B.Sc. in computer science, and an M.B.A, all from San Jose State University. He served on several boards including the board of advisors at San Jose State's School of Engineering and on the boards of directors of several private companies: Altos (acquired by Cadence in May 2011), AutoESL (acquired by Xilinx in February 2011), Scoperta, Tela Innovations, and Shocking Technologies. He also serves as a strategic advisor to several public technology companies.

“Jim has an excellent take on the future of electronic design and thoroughly understands the challenges of the EDA industry,” said Randy Smith, CEO of POLYTEDA. “We look forward to being able to draw on Jim’s time and expertise as more and more companies move into nano-scale processes.”

“POLYTEDA represents a technology that has a cutting edge solution for IC physical verification. The physical verification problem always looks for technology that first gets the right answer, is very fast and conservative in memory utilization,” said Jim Hogan. “POLYTEDA is delivering on all three of these values. It also has a world class team of engineers and management. I’m fortunate to join as chairman.”
