  • January 5, 2011 – Munich, Germany and Westford, MA, USA – A-Tec Systems, specialist CNC machine tool retrofit company, has adopted Zuken’s E³.series electrical CAD software for all its electrical system and wire harness design projects. The team are now enjoying the ability to focus on product design rather than dealing with the distractions and loss of productivity caused by previous design tools.

Based in Wigan, UK, A-Tec Systems work with large CNC (computer numerically controlled) machines typically used in the aerospace and oil industries that have a high residual value, and bring new life to them by installing new customized control systems. Every design is customized, with 95% different functionality in each project.

Overall productivity with the introduction of E³.series has improved by 10%, with enhanced design capabilities and a significant reduction in rework.

"Since we’ve been using E³.series, our technicians find it much easier to work with the schematic output from E³.series which provides more detailed documentation. E³.series is exceptionally stable and has an open access API. This has allowed us to customize the solution to suit our design process," commented Chris Hatfield the technical director of A-Tec Systems.

A-Tec also selected E³.series for its design reuse capabilities. "It means that we can import pages and other sections of a design easily without having to reorganize the database. This will save us substantial amounts of time."

E³.series is available direct from Zuken or through the distributor network. In this case, A-Tec turned to UK distributor High Peak Systems to deliver a complete solution to their problems, for further details about High Peak Systems visit www.highpeaksystems.com

    About E³.series

E³.series is Zuken’s Windows-based modular, scalable and intuitive system for the engineering of electrotechnical, pneumatics and hydraulics applications; electronic components cabling and wiring harnesses. The sharing of a singular core object-orientated architecture that supports the entire engineering flow from concept creation through to manufacturing eliminates the need for data transfer between the different modules. This reduces errors, increases quality and allows engineering changes to be completed much more efficiently. E³.series can also be smoothly integrated with existing applications and processes through standard and customizable, bi-directional programmable interfaces.
