“We are honored to receive this prestigious award together with our fellow HDMI technology founders and partners,” said Steve Tirado, president and chief executive officer at Silicon Image, Inc. “The HDMI technology standard has been a tremendous success having been adopted by over 850 consumer electronics and PC products manufacturers worldwide and Silicon Image is proud to support the standard with one of the most comprehensive HDMI technology product portfolios in the industry.”
Introduced in December 2002, the High-Definition Multimedia Interface specification combines uncompressed high-definition video and multi-channel audio in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable. The HDMI standard is supported by numerous device and display manufacturers, major motion picture studios and cable and satellite operators. According to market research firm In-Stat nearly 394 million HDMI-enabled devices are expected to ship in 2009, and by the end of 2009 100% of digital televisions will have at least one HDMI input.
