Avago Technologies Introduces 3-Watt Moonstone Cool-White and Warm-White Power LEDs for Solid-State Lighting Apps

MUNICH, Germany—(BUSINESS WIRE)—November 11, 2008— Avago Technologies, a leading supplier of analog interface components for communications, industrial and consumer applications, today announced the addition of new 3-Watt high power Cool-White (ASMT-Mx20) and Warm-White (ASMT-Mx22) low-profile LEDs to its Moonstone family. Avagos ASMT-Mx20/-Mx22 surface-mount LEDs, which target designers of solid-state lighting applications, are capable of being driven at high currents with typical light output of 145 lumens (lm) of illumination to deliver one of the best output performances in the industry. These 3W LEDs are ideal for use in streetlights, architectural, portable, retail, and lighting applications.

Avagos ASMT-Mx20/-Mx22 Moonstone LEDs offer a wide 120-degree viewing angle, good color and light output uniformity, and low thermal resistance to maintain long-term device reliability. Moreover, the low-profile design of these LEDs is ideal for use in applications where height is a constraint. The ASMT-Mx20/-Mx22 are compatible with standard surface-mount technology (SMT) reflow soldering processes and provide designers with ease of handling and more flexibility during assembly.

  • Long operating life
  • Energy efficient
  • High flux output: delivers 145 lm typical @ 700 mA drive current
  • Electrically isolated heat sink is available
  • Heat and UV resistant silicone encapsulation
  • ESD resistance: 16kV
  • Moisture sensitivity level (MSL) 4
  • Pb-Free and RoHS compliant

U.S. Pricing and Availability

Avagos ASMT-Mx20/-Mx22 Moonstone LEDs are priced competitively at $3.20 each in 1,000 piece quantities. Samples and production quantities are available now through Avagos direct sales channel and worldwide distribution partners. More information is available at http://www.avagotech.com/pages/en/leds/.

Avago will showcase at Electronica its newest products along with several live demonstrations of its LEDs, optocouplers, sensors and fiber optic technologies in various industrial and automotive applications. Avago will be in booth number 243 in Hall A4 during Electronica taking place November 11-14 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Munich, Germany.
