Jennic Creates Industrial and Consumer Business Segments to Exploit the Wireless Microcontroller Market

SHEFFIELD, England—(BUSINESS WIRE)—February 11, 2008— Jennic establishes Industrial and Consumer business segments as it exploits the emerging wireless microcontroller market.

Tony Lucido, Jennic VP Marketing will drive the Industrial business serving multiple market segments, including Commercial Buildings, Infrastructure, Meter Reading, Automotive and Medical. The industrial market is served by Jennic's silicon products and multiple network stack strategy, including IEEE802.15.4, proprietary and ZigBee offerings. Together these provide the system-level solutions required for different applications within the industrial wireless sensor network market.

Ian Diaper, Jennic VP Business Development will drive the Consumer business serving the high volume opportunities emerging in this market, including RF remote controls, toys, gaming and price displays. Jennic's JN5139 silicon and price-sensitive roadmap, supported with network stacks based on the IEEE802.15.4 standard is gaining increasing traction in the consumer segments where low cost, low power and good range are important.

Both business segments make use of Jennic's product platform, comprising silicon, modules, software and evaluation tools. Dedicated applications teams support the two market segments with key technology such as reference designs and customer support.
