  • Best-in-Class Partner IP Protects Customer Investments in Platforms, Tools and Processes

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Providing customers with an integrated, end-to-end solutions approach to accelerate the delivery of FPGA-based broadband applications, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced its MSAN Partner Ecosystem. This new program extends Altera's strategy of delivering flexible and complete end-market solutions that support customer needs for cost efficiency, power efficiency, product evolution and enhancement.

Multi-service access node (MSAN) architecture has evolved in response to the industry's need for enhanced features to enable broadband access while simultaneously reducing development and unit cost. Specifically focused on current and upcoming broadband access technologies, MSAN equipment offers xDSL (ADSLl, ADSL2, ADSL2+, VDSL, VDSL2, etc.) as well as xPON (EPON, GPON, etc.) services from a single, unified platform.

Altera's MSAN Partner Ecosystem includes Ethernity Networks, AimValley, MorethanIP and Sarance Technologies. Each of these partners provides a unique and complementary intellectual property (IP) solution designed to bolster Altera's FPGA solutions. Specifically, the partners will enhance Altera's product line of FPGAs with capabilities ranging from next-generation DSL line cards to advanced GPON line cards that protect and maximize customers' existing MSAN technology investments.

        * Ethernity Networks, based in Lod, Israel, offers low-cost,
high-performance metro access flow-based processor and traffic
management integrated into a single low-cost FPGA. Ethernity offers
system vendors a significant cost reduction by integrating all the key
components of their high-end cards into a single FPGA. For more
           information, see
