Clear Shape's Fast and Accurate Full-Chip Systematic Variability Analysis Product InShape Will Be Used in Variability-Aware DFM Flows
A number of issues have come to light within the area of ultra-miniature technologies under 65nm, including the design dependency of processing accuracy in semiconductor construction and production fluctuations. For this reason Design for Manufacturing (DFM) has become extremely important. STARC develops and promotes the practical application of DFM technologies with the aim of achieving 45nm, 32nm SoC. This requires unprecedented cross functional cooperation between various companies and disciplines, and STARC is uniquely equipped to do this. A complete plan to address variability that includes practical design considerations has been developed by working closely with the member companies.
"We are committed to investigating, evaluating and delivering advanced methodologies to address critical DFM issues," said Nobuyuki Nishiguchi, vice president and general manager, Development Department-1 at STARC. "Working with emerging and innovative technology leaders like Clear Shape and delivering proven methodologies to our member companies is our prime value. Clear Shape's technology is ideally suited for this project since it is OPC-tool independent yet it has proven silicon accuracy," he added.
"STARC is a highly respected research organization that provides a fertile ground for innovative solutions along with the expertise from their member companies to successfully deliver methodologies to address variability issues," said Atul Sharan, president and CEO of Clear Shape. "We are confident our partnership will lead to highly practical variability-aware DFM flows to enable advanced chip designs," he concluded.
InShape(TM) is the first model-based full-chip Design Manufacturability Checker which allows designers to improve yield during physical design implementation by quickly and accurately accounting for systematic manufacturing variations. InShape provides designers with DFM hotspot detection and enables repair based on fast, silicon-accurate contour shape prediction across the process window.
About Clear Shape
Clear Shape Technologies, Inc. is focused on delivering a complete Variability Platform that allows designers to control and optimize the parametric and catastrophic impact of systematic manufacturing variations. Clear Shape products are targeted to cell-based, custom analog, IP, and library designers using sub-90 nm processes. Clear Shape's products utilize innovative, patented model-based technology which contains secure fab data to capture RET, OPC, CMP, mask, etch and lithography effects on both device and interconnect. Clear Shape's products are in the DFM qualification programs of all three major foundry platforms. Clear Shape is backed by top-tier venture investors that include USVP, Intel Capital and KT Ventures (KLA Tencor).
