A huge growth in always-on mobile devices, the explosion in cloud computing and other needs for high volume data traffic are driving the needs of higher data throughput for networking equipment. The mainstream 10GbE backbone interface is being upgraded to higher speed interfaces such as 25/40/100GbE to increase the data throughput of network backbones for networking and data centers. Chipsets that support these higher backbone data rates require even lower jitter, more stable clock sources that can be low enough to provide system engineers with design margin.
