MACOM Announces New Transmitter and Receiver Optical Subassemblies

MACOM’s TOSA/ROSA to be Showcased at OFC 2016

LOWELL, Mass. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 22, 2016 — M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high-performance RF, microwave, millimeterwave and photonic semiconductor products, today announced the FBT4821AG, a transmitter optical subassembly (TOSA), and the FBR4102PB, a receiver optical subassembly (ROSA). These devices are optimized for 100G LR4 applications, and targeted for QSFP28, CFP4, CFP2 and CFP form factors.

High density and low power consumption are critical enablers for addressing the insatiable demand for higher bandwidth long reach connectivity, which underpins the communication of aggregated cloud, data center and mobile traffic. MACOM’s FBT4821AG and FBR4102PB offer customers a 100G LR4 solution for integration in high density form factors such as QSFP28, while exceeding link budget requirements for communication over 10km of single mode fiber. MACOM’s TOSA and ROSA solutions, along with MACOM’s de facto standard Clock and Data Recovery (CDR) integrated circuits (ICs), provide an optimized solution for implementing 100G LR4 optical modules.

The FBT4821AG provides customers with optimal low power consumption by integrating the DML driver function within the TOSA. This enables the TOSA to interface directly with MACOM’s low power M37049 CDR and match to the internal laser without requiring power hungry back termination. Integration of the DML driver also enables a simpler module implementation and excellent mask margin.

In addition to low power consumption, the FBR4102PB ROSA boasts industry leading sensitivity and overload and is designed to interface with MACOM’s M37046 CDR. The ROSA features operation up to 28Gb/s and per channel receive signal strength indication.

“MACOM is excited to release our first OSA products following the FiBest acquisition,” said Toshihiro Takada, SVP and President, MACOM K.K. “We believe our TOSA and ROSA are industry leading devices that provide customers with the high-performance, low power consumption and compact size for ideal integration into QSFP28 and CFP4 applications.”

MACOM’s FBT4821AG and FBR4102PB will be on display for private demonstrations at OFC 2016, Booth #3101, March 22-24th in Anaheim, CA. To make an appointment, contact your local sales representative. For more information on MACOM’s broad optical and photonic portfolio visit: www.macom.com
