Imagination to Showcase Ground-Breaking Graphics Technologies at GDC 2016

LONDON, March 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Imagination Technologies (IMG.L) announces its participation at the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2016. During the GDC Expo, the company will demonstrate an array of its PowerVR graphics technologies including support for the latest Vulkan™ 1.0 API and its state-of-the-art PowerVR Ray Tracing GPUs.

Based on the Wizard architecture, PowerVR Ray Tracing GPUs can deliver amazing realism and performance with 50x the efficiency of a traditional desktop GPU. As part of the conference, Imagination will also host Imagination Developers Connection (idc16), a day of developer sessions.

Who:Imagination, a global leader in multimedia, processor, communication and cloud technologies
What:Imagination will demonstrate real-time ray tracing applications running on the quad-cluster PowerVR GR6500 GPU. This energy and area efficient graphics processor is designed for mobile
applications and can also scale to multi-core, multi-cluster configurations that would power a desktop PC or game console.
As a member of Khronos’ Vulkan working group, Imagination is one of the major contributors to this new API. At GDC, Imagination will showcase several new Vulkan related demonstrations including those for graphics and GPU compute.
At the Imagination Developers Connection (idc16), developers can learn how to boost their game development prowess across of all today’s devices with PowerVR graphics, and prepare for the disruptive new PowerVR Ray Tracing technology. Speakers will include engineers from Imagination and partners including Codeplay, Croteam, Epic Games, and Google. Sessions include:
   - PowerVR Graphics – latest developments and future plans
   - Introduction to ray tracing on the PowerVR GR6500 GPU
   - Real-time ray tracing techniques for developers
   - So you want to build a lightmapper?
   - Efficient rendering with Vulkan on PowerVR
   - Migrating to Vulkan with the new PowerVR Framework
   - Working with Vulkan on Android
   - An Introduction to SPIR-V
   - Panel discussion: Is Vulkan a game changer?
When:  GDC: March 14-18; GDC Expo: March 16-18; idc16: 10am to 5pm on March 15
